Easy and Delicious Panko Fried Tilapia Recipe

I have to be honest, I used to avoid frying foods at all costs. It’s messy, creates a ton of dishes, and is devastating if it doesn’t turn out. Well, recently I’ve discovered there is a much cleaner and easier way to get delicious fried foods.

So far I’ve used this easy frying method for chicken and fish, but I can only imagine that it would work for pretty much anything from shrimp to vegetables. So if you too have a fear of frying, I’m telling you now it’s time to take the leap and try this fried tilapia recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tilapia fillets
  • 1/4c ranch
  • 3 Tbsp hot sauce*
  • 4 Tbsp cayenne powder*
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1.5c panko bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1Tbsp oregano
  • salt
  • pepper
  • avocado oil
*optional if you like it spicy

Steps:

Heat avocado oil in nonstick skillet on medium heat.

Cut each fillet in half lengthwise. Pat dry with paper towels. Make sure to dry as well as possible, so the breading sticks. Salt and pepper both sides of the fillets.  In a small bowl combine ranch, hot sauce, half the cayenne powder, and lemon juice. On a deep plate or tupperware, combine panko, cornstarch, the rest of the cayenne powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Brush both sides of fish with ranch mixture, then coat in breadcrumbs. Fry in a pan (about 2 minutes each side or until breadcrumbs are nice and brown).

And that’s literally it.. so do it.

Enjoy it with your favorite sauce and side salad.
